When Jason Pell enrolled at Thomas Nelson Community College in 2006, he already had a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary History Education. TNCC’s Career Studies Certificate Program gave the 1999 Appalachian State University graduate an affordable way to learn about computer programming and databases. Before finishing his last class at Thomas Nelson, Pell was hired as a Database Technician for Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.
Earlier this month, he became an Analyst Programmer for the school district. He credits much of his success to the Career Studies Certificate offerings at TNCC. “The career certificates are a great way for a person to expand their horizons,” Pell said.

Keeping TNCC safe is of the utmost importance. To ensure that accurate, timely information is communicated about emergencies, the College employs an emergency alert system called e2Campus that sends text and email messages. To receive these alerts, students, faculty and staff must register for participation. Those who signed up previously for e2Campus need to re-register as old accounts have expired.
Signing up for e2Campus is easy and will keep those registered informed about potential campus safety hazards, including campus closures due to weather. It is compatible with mobile phones, Blackberries, smart phones, satellite phones, email wireless PDAs and pagers. Normal text-messaging rates apply. There are no additional charges.
